In the beginning I used to show Doberman Pinschers and German Shorthaired pointers. I never even thought of dachshunds or anything beyond my Dobie because I love the breed ever so much. But, that was soon to change. My daughter’s boyfriend had always wanted a miniature dachshund. He had never had a dog before because his mother was allergic to them. Because he loved them so much we decided and promised him that when he bought his own house we would buy him his very first miniature dachshund that would be his to keep and to show if he wanted to. One day I came across a breeder that had a litter of pups ready to go that had champion lines and everything. My daughter and I were like…hmmmm, should we? After debating about it we decided why not. My daughter decided to go in half with the puppy. We talked it over and agreed that puppy would stay with us until he was able to purchase his own home and when he would he would take the dog with him. Little did we know that we would fall in love with the breed; after purchasing his puppy we decided to purchase one for ourselves to show and after that we purchased another and began to breed them for show and family companions. This breed is so wonderful and to this day if it was not for my daughter’s boyfriend we would not be the kennel that we are today. He still tells us every time he comes over “I only wanted one” If it was not for his one, we would not be who we are today.
